Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) working in Coventry get plenty of support from schools and from the Education Service. Every year a quality assurance programme ensures that every NQT receives the best possible advice and guidance.

Some Coventry schools have agreed to pay a ‘Local Hello’ for newly qualified teachers by paying their salary from 1st July for those NQTs who would normally be employed from 1st September. This could amount to around an extra £2,000. The Children & Young People's Service is encouraging all schools in Coventry to participate in this incentive scheme.

Newly Qualified teachers in England are able to qualify for a lump sum payment through the National ‘Golden Hello’ scheme. A NQT who has received a training bursary may also be eligible for a lump sum payment if teaching a shortage subject area, providing the specific criteria set out by the Training and Development Agency are met.
