Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) Recruitment Database

Coventry operates a newly qualified teacher recruitment database, where you can apply to register your details for permanent work within the authority. The database is accessible to Coventry schools via our internal electronic network, onto which your details are recorded. If a school has a suitable vacancy and is interested in you, it will contact the teacher recruitment team to obtain a copy of your recruitment database application form. If the school then wishes to pursue your application, they will contact you personally.

NQT Recruitment Database – Guidance Notes

Thank you for registering your interest in teaching in Coventry schools. Please note the following instructions for applying to Coventry’s NQT recruitment database.

Please complete the application form as soon as possible indicating the date you will be available for employment. Please ensure you provide a campus and home address, telephone number, (including mobile) and an email address. You need to return the form to Coventry’s teacher recruitment team by emailing jobs@coventry.gov.uk or by forwarding to:

We will acknowledge receipt of your application form. If you do not receive this two weeks after you have sent in your application, please contact the teacher recruitment team on our help line number 024 7683 2121.

Brief details of your application will be put on to the Coventry Newly Qualified Teacher Recruitment Database and then circulated to schools at regular intervals. If your details are to be circulated to our primary schools, please ensure you have indicated the Key Stage(s) you wish to teach. If a school is interested in pursuing your application, they will contact you personally. It is therefore important that you inform us as soon as you become unavailable for work. The teacher recruitment team operates a regular check on availability with specific cut off dates. If you do not reply to the team, you will automatically be removed from the database.

It is suggested that you also apply for specific vacancies on our web site which can be accessed either on www.coventry.gov.uk or https://www.schoolsrecruitment.dcsf.gov.uk/coventrycitycouncil ,or posts that are advertised by schools in the Coventry Evening Telegraph (Thursday). Some schools also advertise in other publications such as the Times Educational Supplement.

If you apply for a specific post, you will need to obtain the school’s recruitment information pack, as this will provide specific details about the school and the job. However, to cut down the number of times you may have to provide the same information, you can ask the school to contact our teacher recruitment help line on 024 7683 2121 and Coventry’s recruitment team will forward a copy of your completed application form to the school. If you wish to add details that relate to the specific post, you will need to inform the school that you will be sending more details.
